Jim Burns Joins Accela as Chief Financial Officer

Accela, the leading provider of cloud-based productivity and civic engagement software solutions for government, today announced that Jim Burns is joining the company as Chief Financial Officer.

Burns joins Accela from IoT and smart city leader Silver Spring Networks, where, as CFO, he was responsible for finance, investor relations, strategic initiatives, corporate development, manufacturing and IT. Burns was named Bay Area 2016 small-cap CFO of the Year by the San Francisco Business Times. Prior to SSNI, Burns held executive positions at Hewlett Packard for two decades, including CFO of HP’s $60 billion Enterprise Business, COO of HP’s $26 billion Services Business, as well as Vice President of HP’s Global Investor Relations.

“I am thrilled to join this fast growing leader in using the cloud to connect citizens to their governments,” said Jim Burns. “Accela has a market leading position, a rapidly growing marketplace, a great technology platform and a proven business model. In sum, the company has all the essential elements for long-term value creation.”

“We are honored that Jim will be joining the team at Accela,” said Maury Blackman, Accela’s President and CEO. “Jim brings extensive financial and operational experience in scaling large, public software enterprises. We look forward to working with Jim as we embark on our next phase of growth.”

Burns currently sits on the Advisory Board for the Leavey School of Business and Ignatian Center at his alma mater, Santa Clara University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Commerce.
