The Woodlands, Texas Selects Accela Solution to Improve Delivery of Services to Residents

Web-based asset management solution will support quality-of-life enhancements and faster service response

The Woodlands, Texas (April 13, 2009) The Woodlands, Texas has selected Accela Asset Management™ from Accela, Inc. to provide its Community Association with an integrated e-government solution for tracking and managing assets and resources and enabling better quality and more responsive services to its residents.

The Web-based solution can be applied to an unlimited number and type of assets and will be utilized in The Woodlands to support asset inventories, maintenance, requests for service, and parts inventory. Staff will have the ability to access and share information from a centralized database of asset information, improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of key functions and operations and enabling faster and more accurate response to customer service requests.

“The Woodlands selection of our Web-based solution signals great things ahead for the people who live and do business there,” said Maury Blackman, Accela president and CEO. “We look forward to supporting the community in becoming a benchmark for other jurisdictions looking for faster and more effective ways to serve the public.”

The Woodlands also selected additional Accela applications that will enhance the functionality of Accela Asset Management to enable sharing of GIS information from a centralized database, empower field staff to work more efficiently in conducting inspections, provide residents online access to services, and facilitate management of citizen requests.

Accela GIS™ seamlessly integrates with Accela Asset Management to provide powerful real-time visual analysis to enhance asset and infrastructure data. It allows creation of multiple map layers, automated map analysis, parcel and asset inventory management, direct editing of GIS data or files, and auto-distribution of information to mailing lists. It is built on ESRI® technology.

Accela Wireless™ is a mobile government software application that allows government staff to perform their jobs from the field for inspections, code enforcement, work orders, and service requests. Optimized for Intel Centrino® Mobile Technology, Accela Wireless is compatible with PDAs, laptops, and Tablet PCs running on the Microsoft Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile 5, Windows 2000, or Windows XP operating systems.

Accela Citizen Access™ provides real-time, direct access via the Internet to agency asset-related activities. Online permit applications can be configured to allow citizens and businesses access to apply and pay for permits, schedule inspections, check the status of a permit or inspection, or print an approved permit directly from the Internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Accela Service Request™ provides an efficient, cost-effective solution for organizing and managing interdepartmental or citizen requests for service, complaints, or inquiries. A centralized database of this information enables agencies with real-time access to the status of any request at any time.
