Accela was first introduced to manage building inspections and permitting, crucial areas given Las Vegas’s constant development and high-profile events like Formula One races. But its impact quickly spread across six key departments, including Fire Prevention, Public Works, and Code Enforcement, streamlining operations and improving responsiveness. 

Digital Transformation with Accela

One of the most significant impacts of Accela has been the transition from a paper-based, in-person service model to a robust online system. This shift became especially crucial during the COVID-19 pandemic, which necessitated a move to 100% online interactions. The result was more efficient, with over 5,000 applications submitted and 6,000 permits issued in just one month, showcasing the platform’s capacity to handle high volumes of digital transactions seamlessly. 

Moreover, the move to Accela’s cloud-based SaaS platform in 2022 has further enhanced the county’s capabilities. While there were initial challenges with system upgrades and customer adaptation, the SaaS model has proven to be a game-changer, providing robust data access, improved reporting capabilities, and streamlined customer support.
